Automated extraction of VIN from pictures via intelligent OCR and preprocessing algorithms. We designed and implemented a fast and accurate API that automatically extracts and reads a VIN from an image.

The VIN scanning solution helps companies such as auto parts suppliers and distributors, auto services or insurance companies to improve operations and processes.

The solution is based on the ensemble of custom trained models that leverage CV algorithms combined with pre- and post-processing methods. The system includes components responsible for major image processing stages such as: image pre-processing, VIN detection, image cropping, VIN recognition and post-processing.

The product is currently maintained and further developed by Grape Up Group and offered as a hosted API service in their SaaS model.
